Frequently asked questions

Platform

  • What is Navigator?

Navigator is a Travel Audience Platform. We aggregate first-party travel signals from the world’s largest airlines and booking platforms and turn them into audiences advertisers can activate across every Commerce Media vertical.

  • What can Navigator do for my brand?

We put your brand in front of travellers with genuine intent, at the point the trip is being planned and paid for. The audiences are built from deterministic first-party data rather than modelled assumptions, and you can either take them into your own buying stack or have us run the campaign for you.

  • What sets Navigator apart from other Commerce Media platforms?

Direct, exclusive relationships with the airlines and booking platforms the data comes from. Deterministic signals instead of modelled lookalikes. And fully auditable, privacy-safe measurement, so nothing sits between your spend and your outcome that you cannot inspect.

  • Is Navigator managed, or can I run campaigns myself?

Both. The default is fully managed: an account manager sets your campaign up, runs it and reports on it, so your team does not have to. If you would rather buy and run independently, we can configure your account for self-service instead. Tell us at onboarding and we will set it up that way.

  • What does Navigator offer?

Audience building and activation across display, video, native and social. Bespoke campaign packages. Tracking and attribution consultancy. And an award-winning creative studio in-house, for the assets themselves.

Ad accounts & access

  • Does Navigator need access to my advertising account?

No. We do not ask for access to your social advertising accounts. We need your social handles so the ads run under your own brand — your audience should know exactly who is advertising to them.

  • Will Navigator spend from my advertiser account?

No. Navigator runs campaigns through separate advertiser accounts held with our data partners. Your own payment methods are never touched.

  • Is there a risk in granting Navigator access to my Facebook Page?

No. Advertising access lets us publish ads for your brand and nothing else. We cannot post organically and we cannot interact with your audience.

  • Will Navigator see the data in my Facebook ad account?

No. Conversion campaigns need your Meta pixel in place, but only to read campaign events from your site — page views, purchases, add-to-carts. Your historical advertising data stays yours, and stays unseen.

Campaigns

  • How does Navigator improve my digital advertising?

By spending your budget on a travel-native audience with real purchase intent instead of a broad one. Fewer impressions served to people who were categorically never going to buy, more of the budget in front of genuine prospects — which shows up as awareness and sales at a better rate than a general prospecting buy.

  • Can Navigator reach a specific target audience for my brand?

Yes. Audiences are built from 2 billion+ exclusive first-party data points across hundreds of categories, so we can find your customer — including the ones other platforms treat as unreachable — and shape the segment around your brand rather than a template.

  • Can you reach travellers interested in specific destinations?

Yes. Destination is one of the strongest signals we hold. We can build an audience around where someone is going, when they are going and how they book, which means reaching them while the trip is still being decided rather than after it is paid for.

  • Can Navigator build a campaign specifically for my brand?

That is the default rather than the upgrade. We start from your goals, your audience and your message, and build the campaign around them. Off-the-shelf packages are available elsewhere.

  • Does Navigator work globally, or only in certain regions and languages?

Globally and locally. We run campaigns across multiple regions and languages, and the team handles the local regulation and cultural nuance that decides whether a campaign lands or misfires.

  • Can Navigator support other conversion objectives?

Yes — customer matching, dynamic feeds and offline in-store visits among them, depending on budget. Tell us what you need to prove and we will tell you whether we can prove it.

  • Will my whole budget be spent within 30 days?

It can be. But if the campaign is optimising for conversions, spending that fast can cost you performance — the optimisation needs room to learn. We will pace for results rather than for the calendar, and your account manager will keep you across where it stands.

  • Why am I not seeing results in the first week?

The opening fortnight is a learning period: we are establishing which audiences, creatives and placements actually work for your business. Some campaigns deliver inside week one. Most show their real shape after two.

  • Why did my ad appear outside the audience I asked for?

Two reasons. Our system tests beyond the core audience to find pockets that convert — an approach that has worked well since the iOS 14 privacy changes narrowed everyone’s targeting.

And if you have searched for flights or booked with one of our partners, you may well be in the audience yourself. The model tightens as it learns.

Company

  • Who is the team behind Navigator?

People who have spent their careers in travel, data and media. We hire for the value someone creates rather than for years on a resume, and we have built a high-trust, zero-ego culture around that. It is why an account gets senior thinking rather than a ticket queue.

  • How does Navigator stay on top of changes in travel behaviour?

Partly by watching the market — events, conferences, research, and the clients who tell us what they are seeing. Mostly because we do not have to guess. Every campaign and every new data partnership sharpens the model, so a shift in travel behaviour reaches our own signals well before it reaches a trend report.

  • How do I get in touch with Navigator?

Email info@navigator.tech for general enquiries, or sales@navigator.tech to reach the sales team directly.

  • I work in press or media. Who do I contact?

Email media@navigator.tech and the marketing team will pick it up.

  • Where can I follow Navigator?

    LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and X.

Creative

  • Does Navigator help with creative?

Yes. Our in-house studio has designers and copywriters who build display, video and social assets — from the message through to the finished cut. Creative is one of the largest levers on campaign performance, which is why it sits inside the building rather than outside it.

  • Can I use my own creative assets?

Of course. Upload what you already have to the platform and it is ready to run. If you need it adapted to a format you do not hold yet, the studio can handle that too.

  • What kinds of campaigns can Navigator create?

Display, video and native advertising, plus social and email. If you have a channel in mind that is not on that list, ask.

Data & privacy

  • What is first-party data, and why does it matter in Commerce Media?

First-party data is collected directly from the source — real searches, real bookings, real journeys — rather than inferred, modelled or bought third-hand. That makes it the most accurate signal available to an advertiser, and the kind that holds up as third-party identifiers disappear.

  • How does Navigator collect first-party data?

Through direct, exclusive partnerships with the world’s largest airlines, hotels, OTAs and travel metasearch platforms — 21+ live partnerships, captured at the point of planning and purchase.

Every signal is consented. If you want the detail on how the GDPR-compliant pipeline actually works, ask and we will walk you through it.

  • Is first-party data secure and ethical?

Yes. Every signal comes from a traveller who consented to share it, and it is handled under GDPR in a privacy-safe environment. 100% consented is not a marketing line here; it is the condition of the partnerships the data comes from.

  • How do you make sure the data is sourced ethically?

We only use first-party data collected through our own partnerships, we are transparent about how it is collected and used, and we comply with GDPR and with the privacy regulation of every market we operate in.

  • How do I know this is not ethics-washing?

Fair question. "Ethical data" has become a badge people award themselves. Ours is checkable: ask where a signal came from, what consent it carries and how it is processed, and you will get a straight answer rather than a diagram. If the answer does not satisfy you, we would rather you did not buy the audience.

  • How does Navigator keep its data future-proof?

By owning the relationship at the source. Consented first-party data does not depend on a cookie, an identifier, or a policy that changes next quarter. We track regulation as it develops and build ahead of it rather than after it.

  • How do you keep the system itself ethical?

The same way we handle the data: deliberately, and in the open. We follow the global conversation on data regulation closely and build against where it is heading rather than where it currently sits. Privacy-safe is not a compliance exercise here — it is the reason the data is worth anything.

  • How can my brand benefit from Navigator’s first-party data?

You reach high-value travellers that modelled segments cannot find, and you stop paying to reach people who were never going to buy. That combination is what moves conversion rate and ROI — not the size of the audience.

  • Is the audience you build unique to my brand?

The underlying signals are ours. The audience built from them is yours. We start from your objectives and your customer profile and build a segment against them from hundreds of data categories, so two advertisers in the same vertical do not end up with the same audience.

  • Is my customers’ personal information shared with Navigator?

No. We do not receive, control or process your customers’ personal data. On a conversion campaign we read event signals from your pixel — page views, add-to-carts, purchases — and nothing beyond them.

Navigator Rewards

  • What is Navigator Rewards?

A loyalty programme for partners who come back. Re-book campaigns with Navigator and you unlock benefits that are not on the rate card.

  • How do I enrol?

Run two campaigns with Navigator and an eligibility email arrives. Click the registration link in it and you become a VIP, earning Navigator Points from that point on. If the email never showed up, get in touch and someone will sort it.

  • What are Navigator Points?

The unit the programme runs on. You earn them every time you run a campaign with us — a tangible record of how far we have travelled together.

  • How do I earn Navigator Points?

By running campaigns. The more you run, the more you hold.

  • What do Navigator Points unlock?

Progressively more as they accumulate: additional impressions, VIP newsletters, exclusive gifts, a dedicated VIP team member, and at the top end, paid travel and an invitation to the Navigator Workshops.

  • What happens to my points if I cancel a campaign?

Points earned on a cancelled campaign are forfeited.

  • Can I transfer my points to someone else?

No. Points are non-transferable and stay with the account that booked the campaign.

  • Can I opt out of Navigator Rewards?

Yes. Contact our support team and we will take you off the programme.

Onboarding

  • What is Navigator’s onboarding process?

A short, structured start. We establish what your brand is trying to achieve, who you need to reach, and what is currently in the way — budget, tracking, regulation, whatever it happens to be. From there we build a campaign strategy against your objectives rather than against a template.

  • What can I expect during onboarding?

You work directly with the team who will run your campaign. We ask about your brand, your audience and your goals until we genuinely understand them. If you want creative support, we write a detailed brief so the studio builds assets that fit the campaign rather than decorate it. You get regular updates throughout.

  • How long does onboarding take?

It depends on the complexity of the campaign. We aim to hold the kick-off call within a week of the agreement being signed, and you will get a realistic timeline there.

  • What do you need from me during onboarding?

Usually customer demographics, purchase history and whatever else describes who actually converts for you. It sharpens the audience we build. It is not personal data about your customers, and we do not process any.

  • Can I give input during onboarding?

We need it. You know your brand’s voice and your customers better than we will in week one, and onboarding is where that gets built into the strategy rather than discovered halfway through the campaign.

  • What happens once onboarding is complete?

The campaign goes live and we watch it closely. You get regular progress reports, the reasoning behind any optimisation we make, and a named contact for the questions that come up mid-flight.

Measurement

  • How does Navigator measure the success of a campaign?

Against the metric you care about — engagement, click-through, conversion, ROAS — agreed before the campaign goes live rather than chosen afterwards to suit the result. Reporting is regular and specific. Cross-platform attribution is genuinely difficult, and we keep a dedicated team on it, because a number nobody trusts is worth nothing.

  • What results should I expect?

Every campaign is different, so anyone quoting you a guaranteed number is guessing. What we optimise for is incrementality: the engagement, awareness and conversions that would not have happened without the buy. We will set expectations against your objective before launch.

  • What attribution do you use?

Standard is a 7-day click-through and a 1-day view-through via the Meta pixel. Clicks and views are both attributed to your campaign, and we can report them separately if you want them split.

  • Should I use view-through conversion attribution?

We recommend it. A large share of travel purchases happen after someone sees an ad without clicking it, and a click-only view of the world simply hides them. It also gives the optimisation something truer to steer by.

  • What is a good CTR?

It depends on the objective. Traffic campaigns aim for 0.3%–1%. Conversion campaigns are optimised for ROAS instead, and impression-led campaigns for brand uplift. Creative moves CTR more than almost any other variable, which is why the studio sits in-house.

  • What is a good CPC?

Navigator CPCs typically run higher than a broad buy, and that is the point: you are paying to reach high-intent travellers rather than volume. Across our partners we usually see $3–$10, depending on objective and geography.

  • What is a good CPM?

CPMs move with objective, geography and competition. We do not cap them on sales or lead campaigns, because capping means dropping the highest-intent buyers first. A tightly targeted audience can price above what you expect against Meta and Google’s costs — the trade is fewer, better impressions.

  • What is an ideal CPA?

The one your business can afford. Tell us your target before launch and we optimise against it — a conversion campaign without an agreed CPA has nothing to steer by.

  • What is an ideal ROAS?

Most partners ask us for 2–3x on prospecting new customers, which is a different job from retargeting people who already know you. Bear in mind that up to 40% of conversions now go untracked because of iOS and privacy legislation, so real performance is usually ahead of reported performance.

  • Can I trust these numbers?

They are not ours to invent. Tracking runs through your Meta pixel and your UTMs; Navigator reports what those return. We agree the attribution model with you before the campaign goes live, so there is no argument about the rules afterwards — and if the tracking itself breaks, your dedicated tech team is on hand to fix the set-up.

  • Does Navigator connect directly to the Meta and Google APIs?

Yes. Conversion data is pulled in real time from the Meta and Google APIs, so what we report is what the ads manager holds rather than a copy of it.

  • Why does my analytics platform show fewer sessions than you report clicks?

We report link clicks: someone clicked and landed on your site. Your analytics logs a session, which additionally requires its JavaScript to fire. The two never match one-to-one — 80%–90% is the normal range. A larger gap than that is worth investigating, so tell us and we will.

  • Why does my analytics platform show fewer conversions than your reporting?

View-through conversions carry no UTM, so your analytics platform never sees them. That accounts for most of the difference. If the gap looks wider than it should, send it over and we will dig into it.
